On 2 December 2015, NATO Foreign Ministers invited Montenegro to launch the process of becoming the twenty-ninth member of the NATO Alliance. Montenegro got independent in 2006 and this one of the most important days for Montenegro in its history. When compared with the past, Montenegro is now almost one of the most developed countries in the region, and this is one of the reasons for investing in Montenegro.
In addition to the tourism sector which has recently making rapid ascent, Montenegro also demonstrates its potential in the fields of agriculture, infrastructure and renewable energy.
Montenegro has membership in the Council of Europe, the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), NATO’s Partnership for Peace Program and the World Trade Organization, and, as mentioned above, is an official candidate for NATO full membership. In addition, on 17 December 2010, the European Council gave Montenegro an official status as a candidate country.
Since re-establishing its independence in 2006, Montenegro has proved to be a safe, politically stable and economically viable country for both its citizens and for the country’s visitors. For this reason, it has a potential for rapid growth.
At present, in Montenegro companies more than 90% of the total value of the capital is privatized. Approximately 410,000 citizens have shares in companies or privatization funds. In addition, the geographical, economic and political characteristics of the country are attracting investors from outside the country and this is increasing the investment volume in Montenegro. Montenegro has secured the security of foreign investors by adopting international mechanisms which can be applied to protect the capital. Lower transaction costs, simplified procedures and more efficient management contribute to a more competitive environment.
Montenegro is definitely one of the most interesting and beautiful places in the world, Despite having a small area of about 14,000 km2, its contribution to the world cultural heritage is incredible compared to its size. Montenegro is both a southern European and Mediterranean country. That’s why, it contains all the beauties and advantages of both regions. The scenery that combines mountains, magnificent deep valleys, landscapes of natural lakes, beaches and glamorous islands is breathtaking, and this is one of the crucial reasons for vacationing, living or investing in Montenegro.
Montenegro is located in the heart of Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula and is easily accessible from almost anywhere in the world. It is about 500km to Rome, 1,500km to Paris, and about 2,000km to Moscow. There are two international airports in Podgorica and Tivat, there are ports in Bar, Kotor, Zelenika, Tivat, ferry services and train transportation. It is a central place both to live or for business.
The political, economic, financial and social conditions that have developed and implemented in Montenegro in the last years allows many developments and investments in the country. Especially big touristic and residential projects are currently located on the shores of Montenegro, Tivat, Kotor, Lustica peninsula and Budva or in the central and northern part of the country.
